Buy A Silver Pocket Watch
Too Much Time on Your Hands?
A silver pocket watch is made to be carried in the pocket, unlike a wrist watch. It originated in the 16th century and were worn by men of authority and status. Still today, the prestige of a pocket watch remains.
There are two different styles of watch facings, analog and digital. The analog style has hour and minute hands and the digital face displays the numbers on a liquid crystal scheme. Typically, pocket watches are battery operated. Nonetheless, the sophisticated mechanical pocket watch is a great heirloom, as it is very impressive with its tiny moving parts. It may not be as accurate, but what it lacks in accuracy it makes up for in fashion.
Generally, a chain, known as a fob, is attached to the watch to secure it to a belt or jacket. In earlier years companies recognized their long term employees with a personalized business pocket watch fob. Today those very fobs are considered antiques.
A silver pocket watch can make a really unique gift, considering you can find them in many different finishes and designs. It can be the perfect gift for birthdays, weddings, or any other special occasion. You can get them engraved, personalized, or custom made. It is a wonderful gift that can last a lifetime.
How to choose the right watch would depend upon the daily activities of the individual. A quartz model is recommend and tends to be less expensive and trouble free for many years.
Silver pocket watch collecting has become a popular hobby over the years. Many people have begun to realize that these watches are not only unique and beautiful, but they are also a great relic that can be handed down from generation to generation. Afterall, now is a good time for anyone to put a long-term investment in their pocket.
