A new pocket watch may not only solve your problem but it can also make a great impression of you whenever you take it out of your pocket to look at the time. These classic timepieces not only perform a practical function but also detail your sophisticated taste and style. They go very well with three piece suits or for casual wear like jeans and shirts. Some may think that a pocket watch is too passé but it is actually starting to make a comeback as younger professionals are seeking new ways to stand out and be noticed.
There are countless styles of new pocket watches to choose from and depending on your style may want to look at a variety before settling down to a piece that can best express yourself. Some pocket watches may come with a open face and are more suited to be used as jewelries for men who go out at parties or formal occasions. There are those that have a protective metal covering which covers the face of the clock whenever it is not used and placed in the pocket. These are the most popular ones as they protect the face of the watch from scratches and often times also come with an accessory like a compass or a cigar cutter. These types of pocket watches are also known as hunter watches.
Most pocket watches do not need batteries and need only to be winded to start working; they are made of the best quality and materials that can last forever. There are two types of winding system for a pocket watch. The first is the key winding system where in a key design specifically for the watch is used to wind and activate it. The second is the crown winding watch, where a crown set at the 3 o’clock side is used to wind the watch. These watches are higher in value compared to the common wristwatch as they have jewels embedded in the watch machinery. Often time rubies or emeralds are used but the expensive ones use high quality diamonds. Some places even specialize in a ladies pocket watch too. New pocket watches are priced between $200 to around $500 (sometimes more), while antique pocket watches can sometimes run you more than a thousand dollars per piece. They are worth saving for as family heirlooms and can be passed down from father to son many times over.
