Ladies Pocket Watch – Information For Women
Women may find that a wristwatch is convenient to tell the time. But for those who want to have more than just a time piece but something that has a little piece of history and a touch of elegance, it would be fitting to get a ladies pocket watch. They are beautifully, elegantly and timeless pieces of jewelry that say a lot for women who make the extra effort in selecting a pocket watch instead of the generic wristwatch. Pocket watches are currently making a comeback to younger generations as they see fit to differ from the mainstream users of wristwatches.
There are countless designs and designer ladies pocket watches out available today. They do not need batteries as they are wound and can last a lifetime. They are not only durable but also can stand the different trends in fashion as they are meant to be fashion statements and not just an accessory. Many of these are either gold plated or silver plated and can go well with any dress be it casual or formal. Ladies pocket watches are more intricately designed from the surface of the watch down to the chain it is attached to. They may have a pocket watch chain made of beautifully polished silver or gold. They do not only have jewels inside the clock machine itself but are also studded along the face of the watch.
Ladies pocket watches are priced along the line of a few hundred dollars for a new one to almost a few thousand for an antique one, as they are deemed precious pieces of jewelry. They can start from $300 a piece up to almost $2000 for the antiques that have been auctioned off. Though some steals may be made if creative women are diligent enough to hunt for them on flea markets and have the pocket watches polished and repaired at the nearest jewelry store. Some damaged watches may also be saved as there are many jewelers that have access to pocket watch parts and can salvage these small pieces of history.
For those who plan to give them to their loved one as gifts, a simple message can be engraved on the back of the pocket watch for posterity. You can have them done in the jewelry store you bought them from and often times there will be no extra charge. Also, be sure to buy you ladies pocket watch from reliable sources to be sure that what you have are authentic pieces. They will most likely come with a certificate and the expensive pieces may even be insured.
