I have two antique pocket watches, Waltham, one 1890, the other 1908. What can I use to clean the OUTSIDE of these watches?
Another thing... Dont know if this is the place to leave a question like this...but... The 1908 model belonged to my grandfather, a railroad man.. on the inside of the back cover are hand etched markings...say a leter and numbers or numbers, different ones, different handwriting... were these left by RR inspections?

I love pocket watches. My father knows this, and gave me a quartz pocket watch made of real silver (which is mind blowing for me, considering the only other pocket watch I had was made of metal with a tacky design). Its not vintage though (not that I care). It was made in 2000. Its only be used once, and looks like new.
I'm really hoping to keep it with me for the rest of my life. I'll need to take care of it though. Thanks for the post!
